Using a NANNY vs. DAYCARE Outline

INTRO

Illness

nanny

· Less of a chance for a child to get sick if the child is mostly with the nanny.

· If the child is sick the nanny can still come over and take care and help to make them better.

daycare

· There are safety and sanitary regulations

· Illness risk is great because of the high number of kids.

· If the child is sick then most daycares don’t allow the child to come until it’s been 24 hours till the fever is gone. Good for other kids not for parents

Socialization and attention

Nanny

· Having a nanny might means children are with one person a good amount of the time

· Children can have play dates with school/neighbor friends

· Nannies have luxury of be able to take children many places, where there are chances to play and interact with other kids.

· One on one time means that the child isn’t left out

Daycare

· Their able to meet and make friends with kids their age and it helps them be open to new people

· Can take kids some places but not often. (Depends on daycare)Usually the daycare is where they spend their time

· There are many children, you can’t ensure everyone will get along but most find one friend

What a child learns.

Nanny

· Parents can communicate to Nanny the way things are done and ask that Nanny follow family rules, teach family values, etc.

· Nanny can monitor play groups to see what behaviors the child is picking up on.

· If Good/bad they can decide with parents if it’s a good idea for the children to play with the friends again.

· Nannies can teach kids if that is how the parent structures their time.

Daycare

· Has pre-constructed lessons so they get a start on basic education

· Teaches rules and discipline

· Can’t control every behavior learned by other kids or sometimes adults. Perhaps closer monitoring needed
